About Me

Hadih! For those of you who are returning, welcome back, and for those of you who are new to my page, thank you for checking out my learning journey of becoming an Elementary educator.

My name is Samantha Morey, or Miss. Morey depending on who you ask, and I am a recent Bachelor of Education graduate from UNBC which is located on the unceded traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh in Prince George, B.C. Currently, I am transitioning from Teacher Candidate to a full time classroom teacher. As you will see as you go through my posts, I have been undergoing a tremendous journey.

Now, as I have completed the program and am entering the profession of education, I recognize the importance of recognizing my place within the communities I encounter and connect with. My role within the school community is to be a role model as well as a caregiver, and while curriculum serves to guide our students towards being a valuable member of society, my words and actions will influence many other elements of their lives.

When teaching, I place as much emphasis on understanding Self as I do on content because I want my students to embrace their unique and different attitudes or talents. I look for personalized ways of learning and expression through ongoing and soft formative assessment, allowing each student to demonstrate their understanding in a way that works for them. I believe each student to be unique, and my goal is to help them along their own learning journeys and to celebrate their successes with them.

Mussicho!

A picture of myself on my first day of Kindergarten. My mom has always told me that I came home this day telling her that I wanted to grow up and teach so that I would always be at school. 20 years later and my childhood goals are coming true.
